How do I find scholarly or peer-reviewed articles?
Answer
The library offers access to a wide variety of databases that you can use to find scholarly and peer reviewed articles.
What are Scholarly and Peer Reviewed articles?
- Scholarly articles are written by experts in academic or professional fields.
- Peer-review is an academic term for quality control. Each article published in a peer-reviewed journal was closely examined by a panel of reviewers who are experts on the article's topic (that is, the author’s professional peers…hence the term peer review)
Finding articles
Databases vary slightly but all offer options to filter your search to scholarly and peer reviewed articles. Common search tools such as Summon and Academic Search Complete are great places to start. View the video tutorials to learn more about each of these search tools.
If you need to search subject specific databases (ex: CINAHL, SocIndex Full Text, etc.) please contact a librarian for additional assistance.
